Would my education qualify as "temporary" - confused on the exact definition

I have been in graduate school since 2012. I started making self employment income in November 2013 and at that time expected (still do) to graduate in June 2014. So from the time I started making that income I expected my education to last less than 1 year which qualifies as temporary.

However, I have been in school since 2012. So is the definition for temporary education related to self employment income from the time you start making the income or total elapsed time? All the information on the IRS website says if education is expected to last more or less than 1 year, but nothing about related to when the income began. I'm not sure if I can consider it temporary or not.

Thanks
