yes;aslongas your boyfriend has lived with you and your child for ALL of 2014, the entire year, i mean, and your gross income is less than $3.9k in 2014, and he has provided more than half of yoiur total support, your bf could claim you and child as dependents onhis tax return. you as a dependent should file to get money back if Federal Income Tax was withheld from your pay, you had a prior year overpayment applied to this year’s tax.or you need to file a federal return if you owe other taxes such as unreported tips and taxes on early withdrawal of retirement funds or IRAs; or you need to file return .aslongas your unearned income, i.e., capital gain , interest or etc was over $1k, then you must file her return as a dependent.or
