Cool Inherited common stock-capital gain

My spouse inherited some Disney stock in 2012 (when her dad died). We sold the stock in 2015. We received a 1099 B from Wells Fargo showing the sale and cost basis for the stock. However, they showed the cost basis from 2001 instead of 2012 (the date and year she inherited this). This 1099 B has been sent to the IRS, I have to correct cost basis from 2012. How do I correct this so that it doesn't show as a FLAG for the IRS. Thank you.
