Does California State offer an installment agreement?

California Franchise Tax board states that "if a taxpayer has a financial hardship and cannot pay their tax liability in full, the taxpayer may request to make monthly installment payments."

If California Franchise Tax board approve the request, then the taxpayer may be allowed to pay the tax that is owed in monthly installments instead of immediately paying the amount in full.

The payment amount would be based on the taxpayers ability to pay. Once California Franchise Tax accepts an online installment agreement application, the taxpayer should receive a written notice within 30 days. Taxpayers are granted only one installment request per year.
