My SSN is flagged as deceased when I eFile, but IRS and SSA do not have me flagged as deceased. What do I do? I got married in 2016, so I am filing married jointly for the first time. My social (as the primary) is getting the rejected error message that it belongs to a deceased individual. However, I sat with SSA for 2 hours and IRS for 1 hour only to discover that neither of us are marked, nor have we ever been marked, as deceased. IRS could see that an error code was sent to TurboTax to reject, but they have no way of controlling this since my record has nothing flagged to indicate such an error. I'm concerned if I send via snail mail that it will get rejected 6 weeks later and I will be short on time to address the error. No one is claiming ownership, therefore a resolution is not being investigated by either party (TurboTax, IRS, SSA). How do I proceed? Am I the only one? I did attempt to efile with my husband as primary and it said his spouse's SSN belongs to a deceased individual. |
