earned income credit question

Hello,
I am entering my numbers into tax software and it looks like i will have a very small amount of earned income credit, under $40. For that amount, i do not want it to delay my refund. Can I just say no to that? What happens if I say no although I am qualified, will there be documentation later or audit etc?? Or saying no simply means I dont want it and it is totally fine?
