one dollar salary or zero w/ no revenue? After many profitable revenue years as a single owner S-Corp providing contract programming to others, I have a software app I'm developing for my own corp to market. So for the next two years the corp will have no revenue and some expenses.
The question:
Should I take a one dollar salary or zero salary for the two years? I'm still filing the required paperwork 941, etc.
The question is really is there an advantage to taking a single dollar in salary with the respective payroll taxes and 50 cent contribution to the 401k or just make no payroll at all. Note, the paperwork is the same as my intention is the company will book revenue again in year three from either product sales or back to contract programming (or both). Note the one dollar W2s would replace some zero dollar years.
Thanks,
