“Is the fee I paid the lawyer be categorized as job huntIng expense?”-->I guess the attorney’s fee that you paid to transfer your work visa to another employer is apparently not directly related to your deductible job search expenses. As long as you're searching for a new job in the same line of work, employment and outplacement agency fees are deductible, as are travel expenses if the trip is primarily to look for a new job or costs of typing, printing, and mailing copies of your resume and phone and fax expenses, including long distance calls to prospects. It doesn't matter whether you get that job. Even if you just need to drive across town for a job interview, you can deduct your mileage.
“ Is it tax deductible?”-->As said above;it is negative. |
