“ Is there any way to take the tax deduction?”----> If you make a voluntary donation to a charity this year,2011, then you may be able to take a deduction for it on your 2011 tax return. Your voluntary charitable donations are deductible only if you itemize deductions using Form 1040, Schedule A on line 16. If you do not itemize your deductions on Sch A of 1040, you can never deduct your charitable donations on your return. To be deductible, your charitable contributions must be made to a qualified organization. Also as yo can see, the amount of your voluntary charitable donations you are permitted to claim in any given year is directly affected by your AGI; this can result in leaving you with deductions you are unable to claim for that year. However, the tax codes permit you to carry charitable deductions over into the following year and apply them to the next tax season. |
