Sponsorship taxed as income for local hockey team

I am the captain of my hockey team. I found a bar that gave us $1800 for our hockey team fees. In order to get this money I had to fill out some tax forms.

I have receipts showing the money went to the league as team fees. How do I get show the IRS that this is not taxable income?

Thanks for your help.

Joe

“I have receipts showing the money went to the league as team fees. Then it is income of the hockey team and the team needs to pay tax on the income. ANY monies received, even if not "earned," incur taxes due the IRS unless you have a non-profit status approved. Otherwise, lacking "non-profit status," all monies received are income and taxable.
You may apply for charitable tax exempt status by completing an application called irc501(c)(3). you have to meet certain qualifications. whether you ask for "donation" or set up "donation" boxes, it is considered a business and not a charity. however, some charities are set up as businesses, but they still qualify. you need to find out how they qualified. furthermore, most people who donate money will ask for that 501(c)(3) letter. you may call the irs and ask for the application form and a booklet that describes charitable organizations.f you want, you need to find out this information from the irs.
