1099-misc

My daughter coached several basketball camps last summer as an intern and received a 1099-misc for $1132.00. However, her mileage and meal credits exceeded this amount in deductions. ($1370.00) How would I show this on fomr 1040 in line 41. This would be a negative number.

The income on 1099 and exp should be reported on Sch C; income reported on line 1 PART 1 and exp reported on PART 2 line 24a and b; as the number on Sch C line 28/ 31 is negative, she doesn’t need to file Sch SE; she also doesn’t need to pay estimated taxes on the 1099 income. She needs to report the amount of loss reported on Sch C line 32 on 1040 line 12 and the loss will reduce her gross income on line 22/AGI on line 38 and on 41 /Taxable income on line 43 and tax liability on her return.
