1099C Student Loan Cancellation

I became disabled 10 years ago. I applied several years ago for a cancellation of student loan debt. It took me several years and a lawyer to get my disability. I received a notice that my debit was discharged last year on July 15, 2013. I in no way have the assets to pay taxes on this debt. At the time of discharge, I owned 1/3 of a house that another owner had mortgaged - she has since passed away and house was repossessed. My name was not on the mortgage. My only assets were two used cars and about $1000 in cash. During the years I was unable to work, I had to live off of my savings. I can't find anyone at the IRS to help me and I am totally lost. The local tax office doesn't provide any help with this matter. What am I supposed to do?

I am so sorry to hear your story;In my opinion,IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers/ local ffice are bot practically helpful .you need to contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service aslongas you have an ongoing tax issue with the IRS that has not been resolved through normal processes, or you have suffered, or are about to suffer a significant hardship/economic burden as a result of the administration of the tax laws.please contact ; You can call this toll-free number to find out if TAS can help you: 1-877-777-4778 or TTY/TTD: 1-800-829-4059. The way out of this mess in through Insolvency

Please file a tax return and use for 982 and check insolvency.
